Values of Harry Potter

Ari Armstrong's Values of Harry Potter explores the complex themes of J. K. Rowling's beloved novels, illuminating the heroic fight for life-promoting values, the hero's need for independence, and the role of choice in virtue. Drawing on the ideas of Aristotle and Ayn Rand, Armstrong then critiques the Christian elements of self-sacrifice and immortality, arguing that they ultimately clash with the essential nature of the hero as exemplified by Harry Potter and his allies.

Free Colorado

Free Colorado reviews regional politics from a free market perspective. Ari has written about a wide range of issues, including education, taxes, self-defense, and drug policy.

Ari started the online internet publication Colorado Freedom Report in late 1998, before the term "blog" had been coined. Over the years Ari shortened the title to FreeColorado.com and finally Free Colorado in 2010 with a standard blog format.

In 2009, Ari received the Sam Adams Alliance Modern Day Sam Adams Award, based partly on work published through Free Colorado.
